The Main Hospital building stretches a vast 950 m along the East bank of the eternal Nile in 1970. In the background the Mokatam hills stand bare, yet to be developed into Cairo's new modern extension.

A rare photograph showing Professors Torky (left), Safwat (center), M. Ghoneim (right). Dr. Safwat was chairman of the Department 1971-1982, Dr. Torky was chairman 1987-1994. Dr. Mohamed Ghoneim, a graduate of Kasr Al-Ainy Urology Department (1965) later moved on to start the world renowned Mansoura Center for Urology and Nephrology.

The Main Hospital as it stands today on the banks of the eternal Nile river. The Surgery and Emergency Building which houses the Cairo University Center for Urology, Nehprology and Renal Transplantation stands as the tallest building on campus.
