Department 17 | Urology Department, Cairo University

Department 17 has been home to the Urology Department of Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine since its inception in 1961. Located on the northern wing of the Manial Teaching Hospital, the Department comprises three general urology units. The units have a combined capacity of  65 patient beds. In addition to in-patient services and outpatient facilities, the Department also provides in-house urologic consultation to other specialties. These units are responsible for covering all hospital urologic emergencies and the ER.

Outpatient services are provided 6 days a week. Each unit offers outpatient services twice weekly, including screening ultrasound and expedited outpatient lab work.The Department is served by 4 dedicated operating rooms that provide a total of 16 operating tables per week. Full utilization helps keep waiting lists short and patient care at its fastest.

Currently, the three units of Department 17 are lead by Dr. Mongy Abdel-Kader, Dr. Khaled Fawzy, and Dr. Ahmed Samy Bedair.
